Backing up their strong results at the Worlds in Canberra, Belgian trials riders put the icing on the cake today at the UCI World Cup final in Rotorua, New-Zealand. Kenny Belaey dominated the event and won both the final and the semi-final. It was the third World Cup victory for 'the Magician' this season after Heubach (Germany) and his home event in Knokke-Heist. The 26-year old Monty rider thus added a fifth(!) World Cup overall to his already impressive career tally. Wesley Belaey, Kenny's younger brother, was the second Belgian on the podium in New Zeland.

Kenny Belaey: “I'm very happy with this win and the overall victory in the UCI World Cup of course. Actually it was about time for another big win! All season long I performed at high level, so it's cool to see that this consistence paid off. This is also a satisfying revenge for myself after the close-but-no-cigar year of 2008! I proved to critics that I'm still on top of my game.”

Gemma and Mireia Abant have achieved the second and third place in the UCI World Cup.
Congratulations to all the results achieved. |
